October 13, 1947 – August 3, 2025
Dick/Dicky Seymour Jr. was born October 13, 1947 in Berkeley, California. He
passed away August 3, 2025 at his home in Walnut Creek, California at the age of

Dicky spent the majority of his life in the Claremont District of Berkeley and
moved to Rossmoor in 2010. He attended John Muir Elementary School, Willard
Jr. High School, Berkeley High School and Merritt College.
Dicky spent his childhood summers at the family cabin in Monte Rio (Russian River
area). He learned how to swim, canoe and water ski in the Russian River and
spent many hours at Rein’s Beach and Jenner. He cherished those summer
memories his entire life. In his final days, he and his sisters drew strength from
reminiscing about the Russian River days.
Dicky was the typical 1950’s Berkeley boy with a Gazette paper route, Cub Scouts,
Boy Scouts (troop 4) , Scout Camp (Spicer), swim team, Little League baseball
(Claremont Hotel), skiing, a family dog and a single shot 22 caliber rifle (target
shooting only).
Dicky served in the Navy as a radio operator in P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft
out of Moffett Field and Point Mugu Naval Air Stations. Dicky attained the rank of
E-4 Petty Officer Third Class. The P-3 Orion squadrons flew the Pacific Ocean
primarily monitoring Russian submarine activity.
Dicky’s professional life was spent with Bay Area manufacturing companies
testing high voltage pulse transformers and electromagnetic components.
Aviation was Dicky’s passion throughout his adult life. He was a licensed private
pilot and for many years owned a Cessna 150. He spent many hours at the Byron
airport, helping his longtime friends Rick and Ron Boone with their airplane
projects. Attending airshows including several cross county flights to the Oshkosh,
Wisconsin airshow and on one occasion flying over the SF Bay on a 4th of July
evening to watch the fireworks, were memorable times for Dicky.
In addition to airplanes, Dicky’s hobbies included photography, military history,
classic movies, old TV shows, shooting pool and in his younger days, motorcycles.
Dicky is survived by his two sisters, Lynn Seymour McAdams (Greg) and Diane
Seymour Cyker (Mark). His nieces, Dana McAdams Ryden (Matt), Ariel Cyker and
his nephew Josh Cyker (Nicole). Four great nieces and eight great nephews. His
cousins, Randall Forster Howard (Sandy) and Kim Forster Howard Pickard.
