Mr. Cayou was my history teacher at Portola Junior High. He was also my brother’s teacher six years prior. I will never forget his warm smile and passion for making students learn. The last time I met him, about 10 years ago, he left me with this gem: “The color of your skin does not determine the quality of your character.”
May he rest in eternal peace..

Mr. Cayou was my 7th grade history teacher at Portola 30+ years ago. I cannot understate the impact Mr. Cayou had on my education. He was the first teacher I ever really connected with and he instilled in me a love of history that persists to this day. I am saddened to learn of his passing.
