Victor Stephen “Steve” Schlager, passed away at his home in Fremont at the age of 70. He was born in Oakland in 1945 to Mary and Victor Schlager and was a lifelong Bay Area resident, spending his last 44 years in Fremont. For over 50 years, he enjoyed a career as a proud Garbage Man. Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cathy (King) Schlager; sons, Jeff (Jennifer); Larry (Lyn), Mark and Scott (Kim); grandchildren, Justin, Maryssa, Tyler, Paige, Nicholas, Jared, Kaylee, and Logan; and great grandson, Max. He also held a special place in his heart for his Uncle Lewis Figone. He will be laid to rest next to his son, Mark Lewis Schlager, who preceded him in death in 1969. Funeral service Monday, May 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sunset View Chapel, top of Fairmount Avenue, El Cerrito. Interment to follow at Sunset View Cemetery.
