Nguyễn-Đăng Mạnh Trúc
April 3, 1943 – May 24, 2025

Nguyễn-Đăng Mạnh Trúc passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sacramento, California, on May 24, 2025. He was 82 years old.

Born in Nam Ðịnh, Vietnam, Trúc built a life defined by quiet strength, creativity, and deep love for his family. A California Board Certified Registered Architect by examination, he worked as an architect for over 30 years. He dedicated the majority of his career to Kaiser Permanente (1982 to 2000) where his architectural vision helped to shape healing spaces throughout the Bay Area.

Trúc was also a gifted sketch artist, receiving “Best in Show” honors from Architectural Digest for his exceptional drawings. Alongside his beloved wife, Vương Phí, he owned and managed a rental property business in Oakland and Richmond from 1989 until retirement—always leading with integrity, resourcefulness, and diligence.

Beyond his professional life, Trúc was a devoted husband and father, a world traveler and a man of many interests. He had a lifelong passion for astronomy, loved working with his hands, tended his garden with care, and filled his life with music. While quiet and observant in his earlier years, he grew more social, funny, and light-hearted with age – bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.

He is deeply missed by his son, Nguyễn Đăng Vũ Tú, and his siblings: Nguyễn Thị Phong Huệ, Nguyễn Thị Thúy Hồng, Nguyễn Đăng Thanh Tùng, and Nguyễn Thị Hoàng Cúc. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vương Phí; his parents, Nguyễn Đăng Linh and Vũ Thị Minh; his sister, Nguyễn Thị Xuân Lan; and his two cherished dogs, Lu and Tofu.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 12, 2025, with burial to follow on June 13, 2025, at Sunset View Mortuary in El Cerrito, California.

Trúc’s memory lives on in the spaces he shaped, the joy and laughter he shared with others, and a legacy of dedication he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Hydrocephalus Association in memory of Truc Nguyen-Dang, to support research and awareness for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).
