It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Parajon,
who left us on September 22, 2024, at the age of 72. Sylvia was a beloved
mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the
lives of everyone she met.
Born in Nicaragua, Sylvia brought her vibrant spirit and rich cultural
heritage to everything she did. Sylvia was a long-term resident of San
Francisco, and she dedicated her life to her family and community. Sylvia
was a lifelong Catholic, deeply devoted to her faith.
Sylvia had a long career in banking where she enjoyed serving the local
community. Her passion for history, cooking, reading, writing, and enjoying
movies brought joy to those around her.
Sylvia is survived by her son Fernando Parajon, daughter-in-law Katherine
Parajon, and two grandchildren, Connor and Claire Parajon. She will be
deeply missed but fondly remembered for her generosity, creativity, and
zest for life.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held on October 27th at 1:00 PM at
Sunset View Cemetery and Mortuary, located at 101 Colusa Ave, El
Cerrito, CA 94530. Friends and family are invited to share their memories
and honor a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American
Cancer Society in her memory.
