Shirley was a wonderful tennis player. Last year she played 4-5 times a week and had no stamina problems. We, her tennis group, were amazed to hear she was 79 because she looked and acted 59! She was quiet but funny, and never drew attention to herself. She was kind and tender-hearted and loved and her family. She was so proud of her sons and grandsons and the love of her life, Ray. The only thing she complained about was missing a tennis shot, but that did not happen as often as most of us. We miss Shirley, terribly, and look over to her house from the courts and miss having her with us. We know she is in a wonderful place in heaven. Our love and condolences are with the family. I met Shirley about 5 years ago on the tennis courts here at Lake Almanor. Her smile and her laugh lit up the courts. I loved playing with her because she was so fun, but yet she played tough. I was shocked when she shared her age with us, because she moved on the tennis court like she was a teenager. As someone else shared, she was so proud of her sons and grandchildren. Her eyes would light up when she shared stories of what they were doing or sports/school activities they were involved in. She was so much a part of our tennis community and she will be missed. Love you Shirley! Thank you for bringing joy and laughter to our time on the tennis courts! Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray and family. Barbara Gallagher
