Ruthann Person Taylor passed on November 16th just shy of her 95th birthday in Oakland, CA. She was a lifelong professional educator, serving as a teacher, school counselor, vice principal, and finally principal of North Elementary in Hillsborough for the last 30 years of her career. She was preceded in death by her late husband Clyde E. Taylor of Berkeley, CA. Ruthann is survived by her three children, Anna T. Brewer, Clyde B. Taylor, and Carol A. Taylor, her seven grandchildren, and her seven great grandchildren as well as her many friends at church and Piedmont Gardens. She was a devoted grandmother, always generous with her time and talents. She graduated with a BA in Education from Stanford, a Masters in Counseling from Hayward State, and an Education Doctorate from the University of the Pacific. She touched the lives of many children through her profession, her gifts of books and funds, and her time as a volunteer reader and PEO member. She served her community as a Livermore School Board member and Board President and through leadership roles in the Presbyterian church. Ruthann travelled the world, visiting all seven continents along the way. She passed on her passion for reading and travel, and her spirit of compassion, curiosity and generosity along to her family. She was brilliant, beautiful, and always kind. On to your next adventure Ruthann! A celebration of life will be held on December 14, 2025 at 12pm at the Montclair Presbyterian Church.
