Roy Yamada was born in San Jose, CA and passed away peacefully at home in Hercules, CA on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was 90 years old and the youngest of nine children. Roy grew up on the family farm and was a proud Veteran and served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He was a photographer and enjoyed capturing candid shots, life’s special moments and Bay Area events with his many lenses. He was actively involved in the community and loved spending time with friends at Sakura-Kai, J-Sei and the Friends of the Hercules Senior Center. For many decades, he actively bowled and would travel all around the country attending JANBA tournaments. He cherished learning and discovering new things, and would often be found spending hours at the library.
He is survived by his stepdaughter Mika Takeuchi, sister Mary Tabata (Noboru), sister May Kong (Vivian), brother Fred Yamada (Miwako) and many nieces and nephews. He will now join and reunite with his late wife Keiko and his late brothers Yoshio (Dorothy), Hank (Matsuyo), William (Mitsuko), Thomas (Mutsuko) and late sister Kiyoe (Ray). Roy’s happy, enthusiastic spirit and bright, sincere smile will always be remembered by those who knew him.
