Robert Strohmeier, known simply as “Bob” or “Uncle Bob,” departed in serenity,
leaving behind loving family and friends. Bob was born and raised in Albany, California,
where he graduated from Albany High School. A proud Cougar, he played football and
treasured attending class reunions over the years to reconnect with old friends. A
longtime resident of Contra Costa County, Bob graduated from Saint Mary’s College in
Moraga, California, further cementing his lifelong connection to the East Bay.
Bob carried with him the discipline and dedication he learned as a member of the U.S.
Marine Corps Reserve, qualities that defined his career as a proud and decorated
Oakland Firefighter. Throughout the 1970’s and into the 1980’s, Bob served the city with
courage, integrity, and a steadfast sense of duty, earning the respect of his colleagues
and the gratitude of the community.
Active and full of life, Bob enjoyed boating, water skiing, golf, and time at his beloved
Russian River cabin. Whether traveling abroad or relaxing poolside at Rio Nido, his
happiest moments were those spent with family.
He will be remembered as a loving husband to Carol (née Cunningham), a devoted son
to his late parents, Edwin and Sally and a caring brother to his late sister, Joan and her
husband, Ron.
Bob was also a much-loved uncle, cherished for his kindness, humor, and unwavering
support. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tom, Trisha (Dagan), and Troy
(Cynthia) and their children, Ashley, Connor, Cian, Cameron, and Elizabeth.
Those who knew Bob will remember his quiet strength, generous spirit, and the joy he
brought to every gathering. His was a life well-lived, and his legacy will live on through
the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
