just laid my mother inlaw to rest and saw Bob's marker in the lawn. brought back great memories of him taking me under his wing as a kid, and instilling what it takes to be a good person as was he. He definitely was a building block in my life. Rest in peace Mr. Penberthy......................mike

Sorry to hear this news... I was a paperboy with Mr. Penberthy while he was at the Oakland Tribune. He was a big part of my life growing up. A lot of what I am today was influenced by him during my formative years. As a kid you never appreciate how much adults help you but as I reflect on my childhood I am glad that he was a part of my life.

Sandy and I are sorry to hear of Bobs passing. I worked with Bob in Central Zone under Maury Johnson in 1968. Bob had a district in Alameda. It was funny as he had an actual 45rpm record player installed in his Tribune car that was always immaculate. He and his wife Nedra back then invited Sandy and I into his home for dinner. Always a gentleman. I like Bob very much. We send our condolences to Bobs family and friends.
