Philip (Phil) Adrian Murphy was born in Malden, Massachusetts on March 16, 1950 to
Walter and Anna (Sullivan) Murphy. He passed away on October 22, 2025 at the age of
75. He worked as both a physical therapist and chiropractor in California after studying
at University of Connecticut and Columbia University. Phil was passionate about
swimming and he had a passion for history. He was married to his beloved wife, Ria, for
nearly five decades and they raised their sons, Hanno and Morgan, in El Cerrito, CA.
After retiring, Phil took to music becoming proficient in the harmonica and ukulele. Phil
will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers George and Walter (Charlie)
Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Ria, sons Hanno and Morgan, daughter in-law
Stephenie, grandchildren Kaiden and Kameron, and sisters Danise McDonald and
Donna Gaffey as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at
