Dr. Peter Pisanu Pisnanont, 81, passed away in Oakland, CA on December 18, 2016 with family by his bedside. He is survived by his five children (John, Jeanette, Joyce, Judy and Jean) and seven grandchildren.
Peter was born in Phitsanulok, Thailand on June 21, 1935. Despite family hardship through much of his youth, Peter excelled academically and graduated from the prestigious Siriraj Medical School in Bangkok, Thailand. He immigrated to New York City in the mid-1960s to complete his residency and fellowship in gastroenterology. Peter continued to practice medicine for several decades in New York area hospitals.
In 2014, Peter moved to Berkeley, CA to be closer to his daughter, Joyce. In his final years, he enjoyed time with family, read medical journals, visited flower gardens, and walked in the sunshine.
A private memorial will be held in Queens, New York on December 26, 2016.
