Linda Ling-tyz Li passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in El Cerrito, California from complications of pneumonia. She pre-deceased her husband Chiung-tung Li, who has since sadly passed away on July 16, 2018. Currently, she is survived by her three children: Mona (Joseph Hart), Peggy (Jaim Friesen) and Francis (Simona Brusa Pasque), the Chiou family in Los Angeles, sister Lisa, many friends, and relatives in Taiwan. She was born in Taipei, Taiwan and was known for her excellent academic prowess having been accepted to Taiwan University without having to take the entrance examination. She met her husband, Chiung-tung at the University of Southern California while attending graduate school. After obtaining her Masters Degree in Chemistry, she worked as a chemist for several years. Her life was devoted to raising her children after the family moved to Santa Rosa, California where she spent her happiest years. After Chiung-tung retired they moved to El Cerrito, California to be closer to her two children, Peggy and Francis. Along with Chiung-tung, she was a beloved member of the Richmond Annex Senior Center, where she was a cherished member of the mahjong club. She loved Santa Rosa, music, mahjong, cooking, art and flowers. Her adorable laugh and positive outlook on life was her trademark. All her family sorely misses her.
A memorial celebrating her life was on February 24, 2018 at Sunset View Cemetery and Mortuary. Donations may be made to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco or the North Bay Fire Relief Fund.
