Tsutomu Tom Uratsu, 89 of Walnut Creek, CA passed away peacefully at his home on April 3, 2018 surrounded by his family and caregiver Sue. Tom was born on August 18, 1928 to Hango and Mashi (Mashikawa) Uratsu. Formerly of Berkeley, he was a resident of Walnut Creek and Concord for the past 35 years. Tom was born and raised in Loomis, CA on the family fruit orchard. During WWII, he was interned with his family in Tule Lake, CA and Amache, CO relocation camps. In the 1950s he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Tom loved sports and was an avid fan of the Golden State Warriors, SF Giants, and SF 49ers but his favorite activity was ballroom dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nobu and brothers Rusty and Gene. He is survived by his loving and devoted partner Shirley Arrigo; brother Marvin Uratsu, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and three cats. A private inurnment will be held at the Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito.
