Chiung-tung Li, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his three children at his home in El Cerrito, California from Alzheimer’s disease. He was the husband of the late Linda Ling-tyz Li who passed away before him only 6 months prior. He is survived by his three children: Mona (Joseph Hart), Peggy (Jaim Friesen) and Francis (Simona Brusa Pasque) as well as several brothers, sisters, nephews and many friends. He was born in Tainan, Taiwan and met Linda while attending graduate school at the University of Southern California. After obtaining his PhD in Electrical Engineering, he worked for the Hewlett-Packard Company for over 25 years. After retirement, he and Linda moved to El Cerrito, California. He was a very beloved member of the Richmond Annex Senior Center, teaching Gentle Gym and maintaining their vegetable garden. He devoted his life to his family and fishing. He had an incredibly sharp mind and an insatiable curiosity about all things in life, particularly about Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese history, food and culture. He will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monterey Bay Aquarium Ocean Conservation, National Park Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor. Links are available on the website: https://www.chiung-tung-li.com
