Maury was our neighbor since 1976 when we moved over from San Francisco. We bought all of our bikes from him at the Schwinn store in downtown Berkeley. These included the ones with training wheels for the kids and Barbara's first road bike. So, Maury helped us to launch into a lifetime of joy in riding. He was a friendly and charming neighbor. We always saw him at the Earthquake Safety meetings. We always, always stopped by to smell the fragrance from that powerful bush of lavender roses out in front of his house.
