Marilyn Carr Sutton, age 86, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, following a brief illness. Marilyn leaves three stepchildren, Wayne Sutton (Sheila) of Oakland, Susan Gishi of Davis, and Jane O’Malley (John) of Danville. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jenny, Lauren, Jack, Joe, Sam and Shelby, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Clyde Sutton, and her sister, Ethel Carr.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, the daughter of Russell and Gladys Carr, Marilyn was a long-time resident of El Cerrito. She attended school in San Francisco, where she met her friend of over 80 years, Annette Bishop. After graduating from Lincoln High, Marilyn was trained at St. Joseph’s Hospital in radiology. She worked as a radiology technician until her marriage in 1970. She was devoted to her family and friends and dedicated to her Catholic faith.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Marilyn’s caretaker and friend, Margarita Diaz.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, El Cerrito, at 10:30 am, Monday, March 30, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to your favorite charity.
