Lottie Dottie Henderson was born on December 19, 1924 to Richard Henderson and Hattie Mae Lewis in Gluckstadt, Mississippi.
Lottie came to Oakland, California in 1942 where she accepted Christ at the 37th Street Missionary Baptist Church.
She attended McClymonds High School. Upon graduation she attended Oakland Cosmetology School where she learned the “Press and Curl” with clients of family and friends. Later she was employed with the Oakland Post Office, Del Monte Cannery and retired with 32 years of federal government service as a nutritionist with Oakland Regional Medical Center in 1988.
She leaves to mourn, her husband of 69 years Jessie Raines Sr.; one daughter, Debra Renae Raines-Grant (Eugene); four sons, Jesse Jr., Claude, Clifton, and Michael; brother, Walter Henderson; she also leaves to mourn, grandchildren, Jesse III, Angela, Shanell, Tresean; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Anjolie, Jesse IV, Treymon and Ava. She was preceded in death by her sons, Clinton and Marvin, and granddaughter, Charnise.
We all are going to miss Granny/Mama saying, “The greens, fried chicken, and hot water cornbread is on the stove, getcha plate and get ya some.”
Lottie was a great wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cousin, sister, auntie, and great granny. She will be truly missed.
