Kumio Konno, a native of Oakland and long-time resident of San Leandro, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home. He was 88. Mr. Konno proudly served our country in the Army. A self-employed landscape gardener for about 50 years, Mr. Konno was past president of East Bay Gardeners Association. He enjoyed watching football, fishing in his younger days and playing poker with family and friends.
Survived by his daughters, Joy Sigmon and her fiancé John Humeny and Noreen McKenna; grandchildren, Luke Konno (Jenna), Nick Sigmon and Kyle McKenna; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and June Konno; sisters-in-law, Amy Konno and Midori Konno; and his special niece, Brenda Konno. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elsie Konno.
Interment will be at Sunset View Cemetery, El Cerrito on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
