Kate was my neighbor, the babysitter for our children when she was young, and one of the brightest students whom I've ever taught. Our family deeply mourns her.

Kate had an important influence on me while we were at Foote. One summer day we saved a young woman from drowning in my family's swimming pool. Home alone together, it was Kate who was the intrepid one, who incrementally moved us from shock and frozen immobility to action. It wasn't the Junior Lifesaving Course that worked. It was Kate's steady thinking.
