Judy passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Albany, CA to parents Madeline C Peters, a homemaker and Robert A Peters, a printer. She was raised with her younger sister, Pamela N and had an older brother Robert A Jr. who predeceased her. She was a graduate of Albany High School where she met and subsequently married her husband Melvin J Holmes. She lived in Albany her entire life.
Judy dedicated her life to her three daughters. After her children left the nest she was restless. She had a lifelong desire to create things, crafts of all kinds appealed to her and so it was natural for her to take a job at the local needlepoint shop; Skein Lane in El Cerrito. She worked there as a clerk before taking a position teaching needlepoint to interested customers. It’s there she forged friendships that lasted throughout her life. Judy was also a huge animal lover and provided a welcome home to many rescue dogs in her senior years.
She is survived by and will be missed by those that knew and loved her; Daughter Melissa N Holmes (Sean Stephens) of El Cerrito, Daughter Melinda A Hoff (Thomas Hoff) of Carlsbad, CA, Michelle Holmes (Lance Salisbury) of Redwood City, CA, Grandson Kyle Hoff of San Luis Obispo and Granddaughter Isabelle Hoff of Flagstaff, AZ. She is predeceased by both her parents; her husband, her sister and brother.
A private gravesite burial will be held as Sunset View Mortuary on Oct 20, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Saturday, Nov 19th at her residence. For more information, please call Melissa Holmes at (510) 717-3723.
