Our Beloved, Brother, Friend and Father, Jonathan Jason Mack went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2021. Jonathan was born on July 12, 1973 to Doris Bonnie Mack (McCray) and Overlin Emerson Mack.
Jonathan loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at McGee Avenue Baptist Church in Berkeley, California.
Jonathan was raised in Berkeley, California. He attended Willard Jr. High and graduated from Berkeley High School. After graduation, Jonathan attended Laney College where he played football. Jonathan’s youth was filled with the love of sports. He had an opportunity to play baseball for El Cerrito Little League. Living in Berkeley and playing sports helped Jonathan establish lifelong friendships that continued into adulthood. He loved family and had a unique and special bond with his mother, Doris Mack. Jonathan and his mother favorite thing to do -feeding the birds at Lake Merritt and going to the movies.
A stylish dresser through and through… he loved designer clothes and enjoyed the finer things life had to offer. He treated his loved ones, friends with honesty and would always let others know how much he loved them.
He always placed his purpose in life on being here for his beloved daughter Ziona Jasmine Mack through God’s love. On many occasions, he revealed, he was living solely through the “Grace of God” for his daughter’s sake. He set his focus on raising her as best as he could.
Jonathan was a great cook and loved to cook for his daughter, family and friends. If Jonathan was not hitting the pavement at his local Flea Market in Berkeley, he was sitting at the park enjoying the peace and views of nature.
Jonathan made it through this life a shining example of a good and true heart. His character completely transcended his flaws and those that encountered him were touched by his huge heart.
Jonathan is preceded into glory by his mother Doris B. Mack and his father Overlin E. Mack. He is survived by his daughter, Ziona J. Mack, his sister Sonja B. Mack, his brothers Zachary Westrom- Mack, Overlin Mack Jr. and Jerome Mack. Nieces, Michalia Banks, Shoshana Westrom-Mack, McKenzie Mack, and Mikaela Mack,
His best friend, brother Quincy Blue. Beloved cousins, an Aunt Jemmie L. Kincade and an abundance of loving friends.
Our Beloved Jonathan, you are now restored, at peace. Rest in the everloving arms of God you loved so much. He knows you well. Enter now, into the joy of the Lord…..
