GREGORY KAZUYUKI MURAI
August 22, 1963 – April 19, 2016
Greg Murai, 52, passed away unexpectedly. Husband to Dale, Son to Peter and Kazumi Murai of Oakland, Brother to Jim (Susan) Max and Michiko of Beaverton OR, Brother to Paul (Soyeon) Jay of San Ramon, CA. Son-in-law to Florence Minkoff of Mequon, WI, predeceased by Gerald Minkoff, father-in-law. Brother-in-law to Don Minkoff (Stephanie) Chelsea and Cassidy of Roaring Brook, PA, Brother-in-law to Julie Petersen (Glen Wilmoth) of Fox Point, WI. Grandson to Michiko Uda of San Lorenzo, CA. And many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
As a composer, singer, arranger, collaborator, teacher and mentor, he left a legacy of music that wove together multiple styles, that celebrated all ages, and embraced secular and sacred communities. He was loved and respected by many. He left us in the middle of his song, his beautiful song, but we will keep that song going in the memories of our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on May 21, 2016 at 3:00 pm, Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Dr., Lafayette, CA
