Gary Kaya, 72 of El Cerrito passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in Napa, CA. Mr. Kaya was born in Gila Rivers, Arizona, lived a few years in Albany before residing in El Cerrito for the last 38 years. Gary was a project manager/computer programmer for over 51 years. A lover of life, Gary enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, basketball “Golden State Warriors”, football “49ers”, baseball “Giants”, wine making, baking, playing guitar, piano, and most importantly his family. Gary is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Janice Kaya, El Cerrito; 2 children, Jolie Kaya Trode, Martinez, CA. and Ryan Kaya, El Cerrito, CA. 2 grandsons, Rory and Koji Trode both of Martinez, CA. 3 brothers, George Kaya and his wife Machi, Walnut Creek, CA., Fred Kaya and Dian of Medford, OR., and Sandy Kaya and his wife Lois of Martinez, CA., 1 sister, Lilian Fujitani and her husband Donald of Haiku, HI. Nephews and Nieces – Newton, Kathy, Patty, Cyndi, Kelly, Erinn, Adrienne, Brett Sr., Kirsten, Arlene, Darren, Steven, Larry, Beth, Chris. And so so many good friends, too many to name. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 at The Sunset View Mortuary, 101 Colusa Ave., in El Cerrito, CA. A private burial will take place at a later date at Sunset View Cemetery. Attire for the service-ALOHA CASUAL!! Gary would want everyone to be comfortable and he loved Aloha shirts!
