Nanay Elet, aged 82, died peacefully on April 7, 2014 at the Shannon Rose Care Home in Pinole after an 8-year battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born March 27, 1932, in Dongalo Paranaque, Philippines, the eldest daughter of Rosauro and Maria Dichoso, and the third of six siblings – Eddie, Erning, her, Flor, Nesto and Gonzalo.
In January 2, 1960, Elet married then Philippine Air Force Captain Regino Pagmanua Sr. at Nichols Air Force Base, and they raised their three children in the metro-Manila area until he first immigrated to the United States in the late 60’s. Before joining her husband in the US, Elet worked for 20+ years as an Assistant Treasurer at Southeastern College in Manila. After she arrived in the US, she continued her career in finance working for many years for Barclays Bank in San Francisco.
Family and friends were her passion and delight. She graciously hosted family members as they made their transition from the Philippines to the US and frequently played the host for many parties with her friends and for various milestones in her family’s life. She found great joy in giving her time and treasures to those around her, especially her grand-kids to celebrate their accomplishments. She was a constant presence and foundation for our entire family. In her later years, Elet unselfishly took care of her mother Maria until “Lola” passed and then she enjoyed and planned on traveling until her health deteriorated.
Elet is survived by her husband Regino; children, Reggie, Reena and Jon; son-in-law Pete; daughter-in-law Lani; grandchildren, Sarah, Stacey, Stephen, Ashley and Niko; along with siblings Flor, Nesto and Gonzalo. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and close friends – too numerous to mention.
The family requested a private burial and funeral and wishes to thank all of those who cared for Nanay during her illness, specifically the staff at Benicia Loving Care Home and Shannon Rose Care Home and her caregivers Epi, Tita Necet and Pillar – and to all those who shared their love and support throughout her life – especially our relatives.
We love you!!!
