On December 25, 2020, Elena Sannazzaro, devoted wife and best mom ever, passed away at the age of 89.
Elena was born on April 24, 1931 in Berkeley, CA, the second daughter of Milos and Mary Churich, where she grew up and went to Berkeley High School. She married Victor Sannazzaro on November 19, 1950.
Elena was a middle school secretary for 17 years in Albany, CA, and retired at age 60. Elena was very involved with the Fratellanza Club in Oakland and liked nothing more than serving friends, old and new, and leading the line dancing in the dance hall! Elena is also famous for “making a long story longer,” “being tickled pink” and “thrown for a loop” — she always made you smile and laugh. Mom was the glue and strength of our family, loved by friends, relatives and everyone who met her and she’ll be deeply missed by all.
Elena was preceded in death by her son Mark, husband, Victor Sannazzaro, and sisters Joanne O’Keefe and Mildred Churich. She is survived by her son David (Andi), daughters Dayna and Dee (Bud), grandchildren Brandon Olson, Lauren Sannazzaro and Simone Sannazzaro, her sister Olga Knight and many nieces and nephews.
