David Jack Capeluto (Dave), 81, died peacefully on February 22, 2016. He was born on May 5, 1934 in Berkeley, California, later moved to Albany and attended Albany High School. He married Gerry Ann Blanchette in 1959 and together they had 2 daughters, Cathleen and Cynthia. Dave, along with his brothers owned American Florist, (now closed) which was an Albany staple at the corner of Solano and San Pablo for 57 years. He also served overseas in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He loved watching, and in earlier days playing, the games of golf and baseball, but his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was loved well by his family and a good friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry Ann, his two brothers, Louis and Sam Capeluto, his two daughters, Cathleen Capeluto, Cynthia Allie, (Brian) and granddaughters, Elizabeth Vawter (Adam) and Chelsea Allie, grandson, Zachary Allie and two great-grandsons, Dean and Dylan Vawter and great-granddaughter Presley Vawter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lena Capeluto and brother, Julius Capeluto.
Funeral services will be held at Sunset View Mortuary on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
