Carolyn Wilnice Taylor, daughter of Richard and Sevilla (nee Cherry) was born January 10, 1957
in Oakland, CA. Carolyn accepted Christ at Evergreen Baptist Church at a young age and was not
only a member of the choir there, but also sang gospel in the family singing group, The Taylor
Singers.
Carolyn attended Golden Gate Academy, graduated from Oakland High School and later
received an Associate’s degree from the College of Alameda. Later on she worked at the
University of California at Berkeley in the Computer Center department and retired in 2009.
Later this year she joined Paradise Baptist Church and was an active member.
Carolyn was noted for her genuine outgoing personality and mega-watt smile. She avidly
enjoyed music, concerts, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Carolyn did not
let her lung cancer diagnosis in 2013 prevent her from continuing to enjoy these passions.
Carolyn transitioned from this life on July 8, 2021 and is preceded in death by her parents, her
brother Kenneth and her nephew David. She is survived by her siblings Wanda Wilford
(Marvin), Richard Jr, and Cecilia and her nephews and niece Mikhail Wilford, Shannon Wilford,
Anthony Wilford (LaTasha Jones) and Jace Wilford.
