Aurella Alma Swanson

January 29, 1922 - July 13, 2020

Aurella Alma Hintz Swanson, age 98 of Stockton, and prior resident of Richmond, CA, died on Monday, July 13,2020 at O’Connor Woods. She was born on January 29, 1922 in the town of Holland, Brown County WI, daughter of the late Henry and Lora (Greve) Koerth. She graduated from Brillion High School in 1940 and then took a one year course in Practical Nursing from the Bureau of Home Nursing. She married Harvey Hintz on March 27, 1943 in Brillion, WI. Together they sold the Hintz family farm and moved to California in 1954 with three young sons. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1969. She married David Swanson on May 10, 1975 in Richmond, CA. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2004. She moved from her home in Richmond, CA to O’Connor Woods in October 2004. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a member of St Andrews Lutheran church, Stockton, CA, where she was a member of LWML and hosted a bible study in her apartment. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and oversaw the greenhouse and the greeting card display at OCW for many years.

Survivors include her children Gregory (Mary) Hintz, Ann Marie (Michael) Rehbein, stepson Dale (Adell) Swanson; Sister, Janet Kalies; grandchildren, Zachary (Dary) Hintz, Andrew (Katie) Hintz, Jennifer (Michael) Mungai, Lora (Andrew) Schlueter, Scott (Kara) Rehbein, Julianna (Matthew) Yavorsky, and Joel (Lilian) Rehbein; step grandchildren, Amanda & Kristen Swanson, and great grandchildren, Jason Hintz, Calista Hintz, Joshua Schlueter, Lyle Rehbein, Martin Schlueter, Lark Rehbein, Caroline Schlueter, Hannah Rehbein, Jameson Mungai, Jonathon Hintz and Isla Hintz. She is also survived by Pamela Stringer, Calista Hintz and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis and Lyle Hintz, sisters Meta Krahn and Ellen Radloff and 3 brothers, Alvin Koerth, Clarence Koerth and Orlo Koerth.

Interment will be private at Sunset View Cemetery, El Cerrito. Once it is safe to gather in large groups a celebration of her life will be held. Memorial Gifts are suggested to the campus improvement fund at St Andrews Lutheran Church Stockton, CA or your favorite charity.

Aurella was a dear friend to us. The news of her passing saddened us deeply. Now she has found eternal rest in heaven and God has another angel who loves to attend to the plants. Our old garden in El Sobante, California, was filled with the beautiful purple colored geraniums and many other plants that Aurella and Dave gave us, because they thought our garden needed "more colors". Aurella had given us love, brought us joy, and made us laugh. She was an amazing person. She will be missed greatly by us. Words just can't say enough. Our prayers are with the family. Love. Aunt Rella is going to be missed. She was one of the mentors for many of the cousins. Always a smiling face, a wealth of information and an unshaken faith. We all have been blessed with the time she was with us on this earth.
